Windows Engineer (40-50k) - investment bank

Job description

An investment bank is looking for an experienced Windows Engineer to support project‑driven infrastructure work within a fast‑paced investment environment. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality engineering solutions, supporting technology uplift initiatives, and working closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams.

Responsibilities

  • Execute project-based work across Windows infrastructure, including server deployments, OS upgrades, platform refreshes, and system integrations.
  • Design and implement Windows-based solutions that meet performance, reliability, and security requirements.
  • Support Azure AD, Microsoft 365, and hybrid-cloud initiatives as part of ongoing transformation projects.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell for operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot complex server and authentication issues across production and non‑production environments.
  • Ensure patching, configuration, and system standards are consistently applied.
  • Coordinate with network, security, and application teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Prepare technical documentation, project specifications, and operational handover materials.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Windows engineering or systems administration, ideally within financial services or another regulated environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, VMware (vSphere/ESXi), Azure AD, and Microsoft 365.
  • Hands-on PowerShell scripting experience.
  • Experience with security hardening, patch management, and audit/compliance support.
  • Advantageous experience includes exposure to investment or trading systems, Intune or endpoint management, cloud migration, and monitoring/log analytics platforms.
  • Strong sense of ownership, ability to work independently, and effective communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
