Associate Financial Controller (Governance & Controlling)

We are supporting a well‑established charitable organisation in recruiting a Associate Financial Controller to lead their finance team of 10. This role oversees financial operations, payment governance, compliance, and trust‑fund controls to ensure strong stewardship of charitable resources. It offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful social impact through robust financial leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a finance team of 10, providing coaching, direction, and performance management
  • Oversee end‑to‑end financial operations including payments, receipts, and trust‑fund disbursements
  • Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and compliance frameworks in line with charity regulations
  • Supervise budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for management and board committees
  • Ensure accurate accounting and reconciliation of charitable trusts, grants, and designated funds
  • Liaise with auditors, regulators, and external partners to ensure compliance with statutory and donor requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and governance standards

Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline; CPA or equivalent preferred
  • 10+ years' experience with at least 3-5 years in managerial roles
  • Proven leadership experience in overseeing mid‑sized finance teams
  • Familiarity with charity accounting, fund management, or trust‑fund governance is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, compliance, and financial reporting standards
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem‑solving skills
  • High integrity, accountability, and commitment to supporting charitable missions
