Senior HR Manager, HK & Japan (Global Law Firm)

Our client is an international law firm with footprint across the globe. We are now helping them to look for an experienced Senior HR Manager to oversee the Human Resources function for its Hong Kong and Japan offices. This is a strategic and hands-on HR generalist role, working closely with the Partners to provide comprehensive HR support and guidance. The successful candidate will lead a Senior HR Advisor and play a key role in driving HR initiatives that align with the firm's business objectives across both offices.

Position Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Partners in Hong Kong and Japan to provide strategic HR advice and support.
  • Lead and manage the Senior HR Advisor, ensuring effective delivery of HR services.
  • Oversee all HR generalist functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation & benefits, and talent development.
  • Drive HR policies and practices that support business growth and foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure compliance with local employment laws in Hong Kong and Japan, while aligning with firm-wide HR standards.
  • Support organizational development initiatives, including succession planning and career progression frameworks.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management, promoting engagement and retention.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10-12 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong HR generalist background with proven experience in professional services or multinational organizations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.
  • Solid knowledge of Hong Kong employment regulations; exposure to Japan HR practices is highly desirable.
  • Strategic mindset combined with hands-on execution capability.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Fluency in English & Cantonese is essential
