Python System Engineer, US Investment Bank

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Python System Engineer to join our Securities Lending Technology team within Global Banking and Markets Technology. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining Python-based systems and applications that support our global securities lending operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with teams across India, the US, and other regions to deliver innovative technology solutions that drive business growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications and systems for securities lending operations.
• Collaborate with global teams (India, US, and other regions) to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality software.
• Optimize and enhance existing systems to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Python libraries, frameworks, and best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Document technical designs, processes, and workflows.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployment and integration of applications.

Your background

• 4-10 years of Python development experience, preferably in Financial Services.
• Degree in IT, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Strong Python development skills.
• Proficient in SQL and query optimization (Sybase preferred).
• Experience with messaging middleware technologies.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) for all levels of business and technology stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on, proactive approach to investigating and resolving issues.
• Ability to work effectively in a global, multi-region organization.
• Strong business and data analysis capabilities.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
