Payroll Director (Australia & HK, Hedge Fund)

Job description

  • Lead and manage end‑to‑end APAC (Hong Kong & Australia mainly) payroll operations, ensuring 100% accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all statutory requirements.
  • Oversee payroll components including salary, bonuses, deferred compensation, RSUs, tax reporting, MPF/ORSO, and employee benefits.
  • Ensure full compliance with Hong Kong Inland Revenue Ordinance, labour laws, MPF regulations, and all statutory filings (e.g., IR56 forms).
  • Manage payroll vendors and optimize systems, controls, and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Handle sensitive payroll matters including expat tax, compensation adjustments, audit support, and regulatory reporting.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and regional teams on compensation cycles, year-end processes, and payroll governance.
  • Lead payroll process improvement initiatives and maintain strong risk controls, documentation, and data confidentiality.
