Head of Operation

Job description

Our client is a multinational engineering and power‑technology group with European roots and a growing international footprint. With global operations across Asia, Africa, Australia, and Europe, the company delivers advanced energy solutions and works closely with manufacturing partners in China to support its worldwide business. The Hong Kong-based regional headquarters functions as a strategic hub, driving innovation, project execution, and operational excellence. To support its ongoing expansion, the organisation is seeking a seasoned operations leader to oversee its China operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end‑to‑end project execution from China‑based manufacturing partners, ensuring on‑time delivery, quality compliance, safety standards, and budget control
  • Identify, assess, and onboard qualified suppliers, including managing contract negotiations and performance reviews
  • Strengthen supplier management processes, handle claims, and support after‑sales activities for global business units
  • Drive the creation of commercial and technical proposals for products manufactured in China
  • Provide engineering and design input during tendering stages to support regional subsidiaries
  • Build, manage, and mentor a team of 6-8 specialists to enhance operational capability
  • Ensure design integrity and technical alignment with engineering teams in China and overseas
  • Promote continuous improvement and operational excellence to improve overall competitiveness
  • Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across functions such as Finance, Marketing, Logistics, and Country Management
  • Support industrialisation processes and uphold best‑practice project management methodologies

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering; exposure to medium and high‑voltage transmission & distribution systems preferred
  • Master's degree advantageous
  • Minimum 10 years' relevant experience in engineering, power solutions, or related industrial sectors
  • Strong understanding of IEC standards and experience working in international project environments
  • Proven project management capability; PMP certification preferred
  • Hands‑on, entrepreneurial, and resourceful leadership style with the ability to operate in a fast‑growing environment
  • Demonstrated success in supplier identification, qualification, and performance management
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience leading cross‑functional teams
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Mandarin
  • Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable engaging with senior global stakeholders
