2016 Prediction: 5 of the Hottest Jobs in Hong Kong!

  1. Compliance, Audit & Risk

No surprises here! 2015 has seen no let-up in the focus on compliance and risk management in major financial institutions. Global banks continue to hit headlines around the world with heavy fines being imposed on them for violating banking regulations and anti-money laundering policies. Banks have responded by continuing to hire Compliance, Audit and Risk Management professionals to improve their Compliance, Risk Management and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) programs.

  2. Programmers / Developers

Demand for qualified IT Professionals such as mobile applications developers and programmers with iOS, Android, C++, Java etc. skills is huge at present and there is a big shortage of talent. With disruptive technologies changing the way businesses operate around the world and more and more Tech start-up organisations emerging in Hong Kong we only expect this demand to continue into 2016.

  3. Digital Marketers

The continued emergence of “all things digital” has created opportunities for organisations who are willing to invest and adapt to get ahead of their competition. These dominant business trends are creating a high demand in Hong Kong (and globally) for individuals with niche skill sets in this space. Jobs that did not exist 10 years ago are now top of the hiring priority list and digital marketers, content managers, social media managers, data analytic specialists, SEO/SEM experts are in high demand.

  4. Project Managers / Business Analysts

Across financial services and commercial industries, organisations will continue to seek to upgrade or implement systems to give them a competitive edge. Demand for high quality project managers and business analysts (especially those with Change Management experience) to deliver large scale projects on time and to budget is high and is expected to continue.

  5. Financial Analysts

Hong Kong remains a leading Asian Financial hub and a platform for investment in China. Demand therefore for finance professionals with strong financial analytical skills coupled with excellent business acumen has remained high in 2015 and we expect this to continue in the next 12 months with demand outweighing supply.

If you are looking for a new role in 2016 and work in one of the job functions listed above, then you should have a whole host of new opportunities awaiting you in the next 12 months. Please get in touch if you would like to find out about the opportunities Ambition is currently working on. For employers with talented individuals working in these positions, our advice is that it is critical to have retention strategies in place to avoid attrition as highly qualified individuals with these skills sets will be in huge demand in 2016.
