General Secretary
The General Secretary will report directly to the Chairman and be accountable to the General Committee in its mission to protect, improve, and advance the interests of the Association's Members and the professional interests of aircrew generally.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Strategic Planning:
    • Collaborate with the Chairman and the General Committee to develop and implement strategic plans for the union.

  2. Support to the General Committee and Sub Committees:
    • Prepare meeting agendas and document meeting minutes.
    • Foster open and effective communication among committee members.
    • Facilitate a seamless transition during the annual turnover to ensure continuity and stability within the union's leadership structure.

  3. Policy Implementation:
    • Implement policies as decided by the General Committee.
    • Communicate these policies to all members and ensure adherence within the union.

  4. Representation:
    • Represent the union at external meetings, conferences, and negotiations.
    • Act as the public face of the union, handling media and public relations.

  5. Member Services:
    • Oversee the provision of services to union members, including handling grievances, providing legal advice, and organizing training programs.

  6. Collaboration:
    • Coordinate and liaise with international organizations and pilot unions.
    • Work closely with other local trade union organizations, such as other relevant employee associations.

  7. Government and Industry Relations:
    • Maintain communication and exchange information with Government Departments and Trade Unions.

  8. Administration:
    • Oversee day-to-day administrative tasks, including managing staff, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations

  9. Financial Management:
    • Take responsibility for the financial management of the union, including budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring the union's financial viability.


Qualifications:

  • Fluent in Cantonese and English.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a trade union or related organization.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Knowledge of employment law and industrial relations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle conflict.
  • Preferred degree in a relevant field (such as Business Administration, Law, or Industrial Relations).
