Job description

Our client is a leading global financial institution offering a wide range of banking and wealth solutions. The Data Engineer will leverage deep technical expertise to manage large datasets, enhance data workflows, and support business strategies. The role involves developing new techniques, improving processes, and solving moderately complex data challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with large internal and external datasets to support business strategy and insights.
  • Build and compile data sets using SQL, Python, VBA, Access, etc.
  • Document data requirements and lead data processing, cleaning, and exploratory analysis.
  • Apply statistical models and data visualization techniques where needed.
  • Drive automation using Python, RPA, or equivalent tools.
  • Build data pipelines, transformation processes, metadata structures, and data dictionaries.
  • Convert SAS pipelines into Python for Hadoop/non-Hadoop ecosystems.
  • Research and integrate relevant open-source technologies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years working with large datasets and data warehouses.
  • Proficiency in SAS and SQL.
  • Strong data engineering and preprocessing skills.
  • Experience with Python for automation, big data, or analytics.
  • Visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, or Agile methodology.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, proactive, and adaptable.
