Business Analyst - Card Operations / Settlement

Our client, a leading international bank, is looking for a Business Analyst - Card Operations / Settlement to support its card business in Hong Kong.


This role is ideal for candidates with 1-3 years' experience in banking operations or business analysis who are keen to deepen their exposure to card products, settlement processes and system change projects.

You will be part of the card operations team, working closely with business users, IT and external partners to ensure smooth daily processing and successful delivery of system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in daily card operations and settlement activities, including transaction processing, reconciliation, exception handling and end‑of‑day checks.
  • Monitor card transactions, identify irregularities and follow up on breaks to ensure accurate and timely settlement.
  • Support process improvement initiatives related to card products, clearing & settlement and management reporting.
  • Work with business users and IT teams to gather, analyse and document business requirements for operational enhancements or system fixes.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for card system changes:
    • Prepare test scenarios and test cases
    • Execute testing, log defects and follow up with IT/vendors
    • Maintain proper test results and supporting documentation
  • Prepare and maintain operation reports, workflow documentation and analysis materials for internal stakeholders and management review.
  • Handle inbound customer enquiries (including call‑in enquiries from bank customers) in a professional and customer‑centric manner, ensuring clear communication and a positive service experience.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external partners and vendors to ensure timely and accurate settlement and issue resolution.
  • Identify and escalate system or operational issues, providing recommendations where appropriate to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
  • Work according to operational needs, which may include shift duties, weekends (Saturday/Sunday) and public holidays.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience in banking operations, business analysis or customer service, preferably with exposure to card operations, settlement or payments.
  • Good understanding of credit/debit card operations, clearing & settlement flows and related operational controls; knowledge of regulatory requirements is an advantage.
  • Experience in handling customer enquiries via phone or email, with a professional and service‑oriented approach.
  • Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills, strong attention to detail and a risk‑aware mindset.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting UAT, reporting and process documentation is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Excel (e.g. formulas, pivot tables, basic analysis); familiarity with other analytical or reporting tools is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, able to work effectively with operations, IT and project teams.
  • Proactive, team‑oriented and willing to learn, with the flexibility to support shift duties, weekends and public holidays as required.
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese). Putonghua is an advantage.
Additional Notes
  • Candidates with strong customer service experience but limited card operations background may be considered for shorter‑term assignments (e.g. 1-2 months), depending on business needs.
  • Immediate or short‑notice availability is highly preferred.
