Contracting Market Insights H1 2020

Contracting within the Banking and Financial Services space has seen an increase in hiring for junior to mid-level roles in the operations and accounting areas towards the end of the year. This is to support internal projects, particularly in investment banks and foreign banks. Most of these projects will kick start in January 2020, therefore hiring took place from October to December. This is in comparison to the first half of 2019, where the level of contract hiring remained the same; most of the openings are replacement roles rather than new headcount.

Within Finance & Accounting, contract hiring had a strong closing as the year ended. There has been an increase in demand for Financial Accountants, from junior through to the senior level to support year-end closing. Junior accounting contracts are in particularly high demand, to work on year-end backlog clearance projects.
