Banking & Financial Services Market Insights H1 2020

Though the Financial Services recruitment market expected slow summer months as typically seen in previous years, this period extended due to generally cautious sentiment in global economies. With headcount budgeting and strategic planning happening during this period, more focus was put into cost efficiencies at all levels of hiring. However, despite some conservative measures, hiring remained stable as we drew closer to the end of 2019.

In Finance, demand for different skills continued throughout specifically in regulatory reporting, ALM, Fund Accounting, Financial Reporting, and FP&A for junior to mid-level positions. On the other hand, business partnering and strategic skills were sought after for senior/executive level Finance positions. Though in banking they tend to be more replacement hires, other financial services firms were hiring additional headcount to join their teams.
