Settlement , Associate / AVP

The Role

This position is responsible for overseeing daily settlement activities and acting as a key support function for trading desks and external counterparties across the Asia time zone. You will manage settlement risk, resolve breaks and failures, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate completion of all settlement obligations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing day‑to‑day equity settlement activities across multiple Asia Pacific markets, ensuring trades settle accurately and within market deadlines
  • Handling FX-related processes linked to settlement activities and preparing periodic payments
  • Serving as the primary contact for clients, internal desks and counterparties on settlement queries, discrepancies and exception resolution
  • Proactively tracking settlement status, following up on unmatched or failed trades, and coordinating with middle office, custodians and clients to prevent buy‑ins
  • Overseeing stock borrowing and lending activities, including excess borrow monitoring and settlement support
  • Performing daily reconciliations between internal records and external brokers or custodians to ensure books and records accuracy
  • Supporting equity capital markets activity by coordinating settlement delivery for corporate transactions
  • Managing settlement communications via SWIFT and ensuring clear audit trails are maintained
  • Calculating and reconciling stamp duty and other market charges on a daily basis
  • Ensuring all activities comply with internal controls, regulatory standards and anti‑money laundering requirements, including timely escalation where required

Your Background

The successful candidate will bring a solid grounding in equity operations and settlement processes within a fast‑paced, regulated environment.

You are likely to have:

  • Experience in equity settlements or securities operations, preferably covering Asia Pacific markets
  • Hands‑on exposure to resolving cash and stock breaks, managing fails, and coordinating with custodians and counterparties
  • A strong control mindset with good attention to detail and risk awareness
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and tight settlement deadlines
  • Clear communication skills and confidence working with front‑office, clients and regional stakeholders
  • Knowledge of SWIFT messaging and standard settlement infrastructure
