About the General Manager role :

Reporting to the Executive Management locally and in headquarter, this is the top leadership role for Hong Kong organization. With sales, marketing, operation, finance and HR organizations reporting to this General Manager role, the incumbent will

In general

  • Direct the development of strategic planning process; adopt a market-driven and bottom up approach to develop an understanding of opportunities and competition from market research, front line and operational staff members
  • Develop business, product, marketing, pricing strategies to address and capitalize opportunities based on an in-depth understanding of market dynamics and competition landscape
  • Deliver annual Business & Marketing plan
  • Provide strategic recommendations to existing or prospective stakeholders about new market segmentation, new category launch, innovative programs, and go-to-market strategies
  • Identify internal/external resources to address opportunities

On cross-functional management

  • Develop effective communications of business strategies within functional teams, the board of directors and the headquarter
  • Attain resources and build strong internal support for the addressed business strategies
  • Optimise the utilization of dedicated resources and organizational efficiency within the scope of the responsibilities
  • Build and support a strong and strategically focused BU ; develop effective communications of vision and growth objective
  • Actively seek understanding of operational challenges and encourage an open communication within the organization. Work closely with HR Department to address recommendations and proposal about employee's individual growth and organizational change

On business development

  • To reach an aggressive growth target, the incumbent is mandated to work in close partnership with Executive Management to identify potential new business opportunities, and develop plans and resources requirements to capitalize identified opportunities
  • Provide strong leadership to the relevant business development and retail operation teams
  • Support the development of an annual growth plan with each functional teams to achieve common business objectives. Set specific goals based upon the annual plan. Modify the plan, as needed, based upon changing market conditions.

To qualify, individuals must possess:

Qualification / Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Marketing, Business or related disciplines;
  • Minimum 20 years of sales and marketing experience, including minimum 5 years of sales and marketing team leadership experience
  • Management of local market P&L, revenue reaching HK$ 50M - 200M
  • Experience in managing and understanding the requirements and benefits of different business models - own retail network, retail channel partners and e-commerce
  • Successfully launched new brand, new product category in local market

Skill / Knowledge:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Hands-on approach to work and charismatic leadership
  • Ability to:
    • develop valued relationships with executive management, based upon strong commitment in reaching growth objective and building a high performing Hong Kong organization
    • anticipate challenges in getting buy-in from stakeholders and be effective in communicating and driving cross team collaboration in terms of new category launch, and develop any necessary action steps required to ensure internal comfort levels
    • manage challenging situations and recommend effective solutions to problems
    • effective delegation and build a strategy-focused functional management team
    • demonstrate thorough knowledge of assigned market and opportunities and ability to provide clear direction for new business strategies
