Data Modeler (Power BI / Fabric)

We are hiring a Data Modeler to design and deliver enterprise-level dimensional models supporting advanced analytics and reporting.

This role will focus on building the Gold layer within a modern data platform, ensuring scalable, reusable, and high-performance data models across multiple business domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop dimensional data models (fact tables, conformed dimensions, bridge tables)
  • Define data grain, measures, hierarchies, and semantic structures
  • Reverse-engineer existing SQL Server data models and recommend improvements
  • Establish conformed dimension strategies across domains (Product, Location, Date, etc.)
  • Design Power BI semantic models optimized for DirectLake
  • Centralize and standardize business rules and calculations
  • Produce documentation (ERDs, data dictionaries, model definitions)

Requirements & Preferred Experience

  • 4-7 years of experience in data modelling, BI, or analytics engineering
  • Strong expertise in dimensional modelling, including:
    • Star schema and snowflake schema design
    • Conformed dimensions, role-playing dimensions, and bridge tables
  • Advanced SQL skills, with the ability to analyse complex table structures, views, and transformation logic
  • Hands-on experience designing Power BI semantic models, with strong DAX proficiency
  • Experience building models that support multi-currency and multi-scenario reporting (e.g. actuals, budget, forecast)
  • Solid understanding of medallion architecture, particularly the role of Gold vs Silver layers
Highly advantageous (nice-to-have):
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric / OneLake
  • Familiarity with TMDL (Tabular Model Definition Language)
  • Experience with planning and forecasting data models
  • Understanding of data mesh concepts and data product boundaries
  • Industry experience in retail or luxury sectors
