Airfreight Operation Manager

Our client is a well‑established international logistics and freight forwarding organization with a strong operational presence in Asia. The Hong Kong office serves as a key air freight operations hub, managing high‑volume cargo movements and supporting regional and global customers. The business is known for its structured operations, performance‑driven culture, and strong carrier partnerships.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee end‑to‑end air freight operations, ensuring accurate documentation and on‑time cargo execution
  • Plan and coordinate daily cargo movements to meet customer timelines and service commitments
  • Lead, coach, and develop an operations team to drive productivity and service quality
  • Manage airline and carrier relationships to secure space, service reliability, and commercial support
  • Monitor operational KPIs, analyse performance gaps, and implement corrective actions
  • Work closely with Sales and Customer Service teams to provide accurate quotations, transit times, and operational updates
  • Support profitability improvement by optimising routings, consolidations, and operational cost efficiency
  • Assist with RFI, RFP, and RFQ responses by contributing operational strategies and focus areas
  • Review and optimise flight routings, capacity planning, and special cargo handling requirements
  • Manage operational incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures
  • Prepare and manage air freight budgets, tracking cost drivers and margin performance
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards
  • Stay updated on air freight market trends, regulatory changes, and operational best practices

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience in air freight or air logistics operations
  • >2 years in a people management role
  • Experience using CargoWise is a must
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of air freight operations, space control, charter handling, and flight capacity planning
  • Solid understanding of airline, cargo terminal, and co‑loader workflows
  • Familiarity with local regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Established industry relationships within the Hong Kong and South China air freight market
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Customer‑oriented with strong communication and negotiation abilities
  • Analytical and solutions‑driven, able to perform under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Proficient in both Chinese and English
